About
Green is colourful
Green is colourful started out as a blog, shortly after I emigrated to Ireland. I was eager to share my first impressions as a German expat in Ireland, personal experiences and advice. However I never followed any particular rules of blogging and didn't work on attracting more readers. I simply wanted to write. Write about whatever was on my mind, or caught my attention at this specific moment in my life.
Whilst most of my blog posts are somewhat related to my life in Ireland, I sometimes go on a tangent. "Find your niche audience" I read on websites about blogging. I would rather have the niche audience find me. My inspiration for a new post rarely comes from "what would my readers like to hear about", but usually is "I have an opinion on this and want to write about it." Ireland has so many shades of green, and so has my writing. Green is colourful.

My Platform to Experiment
Instead of pushing my content on social media, I use my energy for writing about what matters to me. I don't publish posts in abundance, but with a lot of thought. Sometimes it can take me months to edit a single post. And still, I am far from perfection as a writer. Green is colourful is my platform to experiment. Support me with comments and constructive criticism!

My Mission
When a German publisher approached me in January 2025, asking me if I was interested in writing a travel guide book for Dublin, I knew I was on the right track. Going for quality readers rather than quantity of anonymous followers. And that was when I defined the mission for Green is colourful: Genuine connections, real conversations, and honest advice for people who are truly interested. In Ireland and my Ireland Inspired Writing.

Features
In 2020 I started writing about other expats whom I met in the town I live in. I summarised the posts under the "Foreigners of Greystones" and my Features were born.
Whilst I enjoy blogging about my own experiences of living in Ireland as a German, I am intrigued in other people's stories. What brought them to Ireland? What made them stay - or leave? Did they find the same things challenging I did?

A bit about Myself
Languages, and above all English, were my favourite subjects in school. When I finished my A-levels in my hometown Torgau in Northern Saxony, I trained in Tourism to put my language skills to use, followed by a four-year international Bachelor Course in Leisure and Tourism Management at the Hochschule Stralsund. I spent semesters abroad in Santiago de Compostela and Salamanca in Spain, and completed my work placement in one of Ireland's leading DMCs (Destination Management Companies) in Dublin.
My Heart remained in Ireland
Whilst I loved my time in Spain including the language, my heart remained in Ireland. Back in Germany, I took up a job with a small company, organising group travel to Ireland. Until eventually, on one of my annual visits to Ireland, I decided to follow my dream and emigrate.
The rest is history. Browse through my blog to read about my emigration story and subscribe if you want to discover Ireland through the lens of a German expat!
